Delivered by Toby Pedley AWCF, Sam Johnson AWCF and Chris Hole AWCF, Apprentice and Recently Qualified Farrier Communication Sessions are regular online Zoom meetings for those looking to develop confidence when speaking with others, build communication skills and share knowledge and experience in a supportive environment.

Learning how to communicate with other farriers, clients or paraprofessionals is a fundamental skill in farriery and these sessions are designed to set you on the right track.

What's involved? -

Each session begins with a 20 minute presentation from either Toby, Sam or Chris. Presentation subjects are published in advance and those attending are asked to research the subject, prepare questions or have in mind relevant professional experience or cases prior to the session.

Presentation subject will vary between anatomy and physiology, a specific clinical condition and equestrian disciplines e.g. racing or eventing.

Following the presentation, attendees are invited to ask questions and discuss the topic both with the hosts and as a group with all participants contributing towards a supportive and encouraging environment. Over time, confident and concise communication skills are developed.

Whilst this group is a new addition to our courses, our Farriery Communication and Presentation Skills for established farriers has been running for several years. This group has been hugely popular with regular attendees becoming established and confident in professional discussion.
