For anyone who doesn't know Spud, he is a great educator!
Spud started his apprenticeship in 1982, with his dad, the extremely successful and world renowned farriery Tom Allison in the famous forge in Stoneleigh.

In 1991, Spud established his own practice in Stratford-upon- Avon, initially focusing on sports horses, particularly showjumpers. As the industry has evolved, so too has his client base, with much of his work now centred around racehorses.
Spud has enjoyed an extensive career, shoeing for some of the sport's most accomplished riders including Ferdi Eiberg, Ted Edgar, Laura Kraut, Lorenzo De Luca and Dan Skelton Racing among others. He has the privilege of shoeing Nick Skelton's legendry double Olympic gold medallist Big Star, throughout the horses career.

Over his career Spud has enjoyed an extensive competitive career, representing England for 14 years. During that time, he amassed an impressive list of achievements, including Royal Show Champion, National Champion, National Hunter Shoeing Champion and European Champion, among others.
As well as his own very impressive accolades, he has passed on his skills through training numerous apprentices who have gone on to be very successful in the farriery world, many representing their countries on the international farriery teams including his son Henri.
Through his own style of mentorship, many top class farriers world wide would also credit Spud as a huge influence in their farriery careers after spending time with him. Spud is also a WCF judge and has just judged the World Championships at Spruce Meadows. In short….he knows his stuff and can help you to become the best version of yourself.
