Begin your training journey with an immersive day focused on the recognition and treatment of hoof capsule conditions, infections and the use of casts.
Your instructor will share extensive expertise through an informative classroom session, exploring the causes, signs, and treatment options for a variety of hoof-related issues.
You’ll then observe a detailed demonstration of hoof debridement techniques and casting showcasing industry-standard methods for effective treatments.
Finally, take part in a hands-on practical session, where you’ll work with your own tools on cadaver limbs, with the opportunity to test and compare alternative techniques under expert supervision.
Classroom introduction and overview
Lecture: Infections of the hoof capsule, treatment options and the use of casts
Demonstration: Hoof wall resection, debridement and casting techniques
Practical session: Hands-on training on cadaver limbs

Hands on individual workstation-Ideal to learn new techniques and build skills with tuition from an expert. Mainly aimed at farriers or apprentice farriers.
Observational-Sit in the lectures, observe the demos and the hands on participants. Also ask questions at each workstation. Would suit farriers, apprentice farriers, vets, vet physios or any other paraprofessional.

Tools required:
Pen and paper or computer/tablet
Trimming tools (sharp knives)
1/2 round cutters (optional)
Chaps
PPE-mask, gloves etc
Dremel with assorted bits (optional)
Any additional equipment for hoof debridement
A selection of products will be available to try but if you'd like use your own products that you’re familiar with then bring them along.
